One of our club’s most impactful community projects was the development and completion of the Rotary Soccer Field — a project that reflects Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self” and our belief in investing in youth and community recreation.

In 2005, our club recognized a growing need for a quality soccer facility that could serve high school athletes, youth programs, and college teams. Soccer participation was increasing, yet existing facilities were limited. We saw an opportunity to create a lighted, natural grass field that would provide a true home venue and support the continued growth of the sport in our community.

Our goal was simple: build something lasting that the entire community could be proud of.
What began as an idea quickly developed into a multi-year effort involving planning, fundraising, partnerships, and construction oversight. The project required nearly $100,000 in funding, all of which was raised through donations, fundraising efforts, and the generous support of local businesses and community members.

We partnered closely with the Jamestown School Board, Jamestown College, and the Jamestown Soccer Federation to ensure the facility would meet the needs of athletes at all levels of competition.
While there were challenges along the way — including construction delays and coordination logistics — our members remained committed. Rotarians and community volunteers contributed countless hours to bring the project to completion. From organizing fundraisers to overseeing details on-site, the hands-on involvement of our club was key to the field’s success.
The completed Rotary Soccer Field became one of the few lighted soccer fields in the state at the time. With its natural grass surface and dedicated single-field design, it provided an intimate and high-quality setting for competition.

More importantly, it gave local athletes a place to call home.
The field has supported youth development programs, high school athletics, and collegiate play, helping grow interest and participation in soccer across the region. It continues to serve as a gathering place for families, fans, and community members.

The Rotary Soccer Field stands as a proud example of what can be accomplished when service-minded individuals come together around a shared vision. This project strengthened partnerships, energized volunteers, and created a lasting asset for our community.

Press Box and Covered Benches Addition

The soccer field project began as a significant undertaking in 2005, and it was understood from the outset that additional improvements would be needed over time. In 2016, the Jamestown Rotary Club partnered with the James Valley Career and Technology Center to construct and install two covered benches and a press box at the Rotary Soccer Field. A new scoreboard was also added. These final enhancements concluded a ten-year effort to develop a facility that the Jamestown community can take great pride in.
